Whoa! Google Chrome has crashed. Restart now?

Google Chrome logo Google’s made their new beta web browser Chrome available for download.  Chrome seems to be very fast, faster then Firefox 3 and IE8 and Opera. Loads all flash content really quick. Very impressed so far. Having individual processes for each tab is a great design, and makes much more of a difference in overall performance once you’ve got a lot of tabs opening and closing than I might have expected. The ability to make desktop “app” shortcuts for things like GMail is also nice, and it really is VERY fast.

Whoa! Google Chrome has crashed. Restart now?

Firefox 3 and IE8 beta 2 is staying installed, but I’ll definitely be playing in Chrome for awhile. With extensions this browser is a winner. This is still in BETA. Wonder how many years chrome will be in beta ;), Some issues or features lacking in beta. I’d sure like to see, how it would work with all the features.

- Doesn’t work with logmein.com (java and activex issue)

- Doesn’t pass the java test at: [www.java.com]

- Chrome doesn’t even feature dropdown bookmark buttons.

- Chrome does not have Google Toolbar Favorites or Roboform Toolbar.

- Browser Sync options like Google Browser Sync or Weave

- Logged into facebook and loaded up the owned app and a ton of ajax bits fail to work.

- “Inspect Element” is good but not as powerful as firebug

- Option to kill tabs from ‘Stats for Nerds’

- Community for Extensions / add-ons missing.

- Super Drag and Drop and Gestures

- Chrome doesn’t run Microsoft’s ‘Silverlight’

- Minimize to taskbar

- More better skins

- Something like Adblock Plus

Having used Chrome for a couple of weeks without any problems I got this message on Friday. Since then I’ve been unable to use Chrome as it crashes with the same error message after about 30 seconds.

Having searched high and low for a solution I found this one late last night and (fingers crossed) it seems to have solved the problem…

If Google Chrome won’t open or stay open, try these troubleshooting steps first:
Rename your ‘Default’ folder to ‘Backup’
You can find the ‘Default’ folder in the following locations:

    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\ Windows Vista: \Users\\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\

    Move the ‘Backup’ folder
If Google Chrome continues to crash, move your newly renamed ‘Backup’
folder from the ‘User Data’ directory up one level to the ‘Chrome’
    directory.

    Good luck

It does not resolve the issue. I have renamed and also moved the folder one level up.

It still pops the same msg and closes down. Also I have noticed the default folder is re-created.

Hi..Even i get the error..”Google Chrome has Crashed. Restart Now” every time i type something in the address bar.
I considered the solution provided in the blog here..of changing the default folder to backup folder..but unfortunately, my C: drive just cannot be displayed (even via Start->Run) because of some security problems (I have the symantec security thing on my comp).

I want to use the browser but m not able to do so.
    :(
