Paint.net History - Paint.net was originally created as a Washington State University student project. Paint.NET has evolved from a simple replacement for the Microsoft Paint program, taken on under the mentorship of Microsoft. The project exceeded expectations and has been in development now for 6 years.

PSDPlugin for Photo.NET gives the ability to open .PSD Photoshop files and do some editing on them too. The plug in does not support every feature provided by the file format, but just the ones that relate to functionality within Paint.NET. You can work with layers, load masks, and open a variety of color modes and profiles. Because of the limited integration with the .PSD file, the plugin is best suited for pulling a .PSD file into Paint.Net and converting it to be used in your Paint.NET workflow.
